Virgin Gorda

Our resort community is in a quiet, secluded section of Virgin Gorda, but is easy to reach.

Location

The British Virgin Islands is a group of about 50 small islands in the Caribbean Sea of which 16 islands are inhabited. The islands are about 60 miles east of Puerto Rico and 180 miles north west of Antigua. Tortola with a population of approximately 17,500, Virgin Gorda, population approximately 3,000, and Jost Van Dyke are the main islands. See the map below.

Nail Bay Resort Community is located on the northwestern coast of Virgin Gorda about a 20 drive from the commuter airport or ferry dock.

You can fly to Virgin Gorda's airport directly from San Juan, Puerto Rico (45 minutes), St. Martin (40 minutes), or St. Thomas (15 minutes) on commuter or charter airlines. Or you can fly to Beef Island, Tortola or St. Thomas and connect with morning or afternoon ferry services to Virgin Gorda. European visitors can also connect via Antiqua to Beef Island.

The British Virgin Islands

The British Virgin Islands has a delightful tropical climate, cooled as it is by a south east breeze in the summer months, is pleasant with summer temperatures of 79-88F (26-31C) and winter temperatures of 72-82F (22-28C). The Islands are four hours behind Greenwich Mean Time which puts them in the same time zone as New York and Toronto in the summer and one hour ahead in the winter. English is the primary language; electricity is 110 volts, 60 cycles, and currency is in U.S. Dollars.

To get to Nail Bay from Beef Island Airport, Tortola, you must take a ferry. It's normally easier to catch the North Sound Express and get off at Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda (takes about 20 minutes). If you let us know your schedule, we will meet you on the dock at Spanish Town.
